Once Upon a Time {II}

Farmer's Market

I started going to the farmer's market again, in a quest for more organic deals.

I got all this for $20.

Dalton helped himself to some strawberries while I fed Sienna.

Barbara's Lake (Laguna Lakes) in Little Sycamore Canyon

In addition to mini-golf, we did a hike on Memorial Day.  We parked at the Nix Nature Center in Laguna Canyon ($3 parking).  The kids were so whiny that John got sick of it and went back to the car.

We made it to the top and took a quick picture before plodding the mile back.  So we didn't do the full loop. The first 1/2 mile or so is so flat that you could easily bring a stroller and a picnic, which some other visitors had done.  We saw a white crane, a lizard and some little ducks.

According to Nike+, this was my fastest mile ever at 30 minutes. The kids walked the whole two miles, and came out of it with 2 days of no treats and no iPad, and a promise that Dalton doesn't get to go on the next hike.  Also, no more treats or snacks on hikes, since we bring them to quell the whining, and it obviously doesn't work.

Memorial Mini-Golf

On Memorial Day, we used a fee mini-golf coupon Maggie won at school.  They didn't charge for Dalton since he was under 5, so it was a free outing for us.

Sienna took a nap.

The kids got the proper positioning down pretty well towards the end.

But it mostly looked like this.

"Holly Stars" and Universal CityWalk

Today we saw the long talked about "Holly Stars" - that is, the Hollywood Walk of Fame.  I don't think I've ever been here.  Again with the irony of vacationing in Los Angeles.

Donald Duck

Winnie-the-Pooh

Disneyland

Mickey Mouse

Chinese Theater

Harry Potter

Star Wars

We took the Metro and a free shuttle to Universal CityWalk to walk around and have lunch.  A random girl gave us some (unopened) packages of chips, because apparently you can't take food into Universal Studios. So that's what the random Pringles container is from, in a lot of the pictures.

Los Angeles Temple

As part of our mini-vacation to Los Angeles, we took the kids to visit the temple where we were married almost 10 years ago.

Touching the temple.

Dalton took this.

Hollywood Trip

We went on a mini-vacation to Hollywood this weekend.  Drove right under the GoodYear blimp.  Don't be fooled by the lack of traffic on the 405.  It was about a 2 hour drive.

The Hollywood Sign

Lake Hollywood

We stayed at Hotel Angeleno.  If you've taken the 405 through LA, you've seen it.  Looking down on the freeway from the top floor (they let us barge into the restaurant at dinner time so the kids could see the view).

The front desk had a treasure box the kids could dig into.  Blowing bubbles on the balcony over the 405.
