Jedi at the Park

I took my littlest Jedi to a Halloween party with some church friends and neighbors. He was so darling walking around with his hands in the air so his sleeves wouldn't hang down.

First craft he participated in.  He was pretty excited about jamming on the cotton balls.

October Beach Days

Very low tides at just the right times led to some fun beach days this month.  I took Arthur early one morning, Sienna after pick up, and all the kids after school in different weeks.  We picked up sea glass and huge shells, explored caves, collected rocks, examined anemones in tide pools, and had fun.

We went to Fisherman's Cove each time, my favorite beach for finding sea glass.  Though two of the times it was very sandy.

Homemade Halloween: Star Wars Droids & Jedi

For Halloween this year (or Mickey's Halloween Party, at least), we decided to be droids from Star Wars.  There are four good ones, but the big kids picked the cute, small ones and left the tall ones for the little two, so I took one, and John and Arthur are Jedi.

As usual, I  crocheted the hats using this pattern, and made up my own decorations for them.  I'm impressed with myself.
K-2SO - Besides the hat, the rest of my costume is literally duct tape on black clothing.

3-CPO - Tutu made from a variety of gold and glittery tulle.  50 yards of tulle is plenty. Glitter tulle not recommended. Gold leggings from Amazon.

R2-D2 and BB-8 - Maggie's white and orange tutu is made the same as Sienna's. Both of the kids' t-shirts are iron-ons.  I decided to try that after I found free printables for each while looking for ideas.  Printable R2-D2 iron on

It was easy and I would definitely do it again.

Jedi - I bought John's robe from Walmart because it was more cost effective, but ended up making one for Arthur. (any size Jedi robe tutorial) I also made inner tunics for them both using this nifty tutorial.

Update with one more pic from Trunk or Treat.

Mickey's Halloween Party 2017

We went to Mickey's Halloween Party at Disneyland on October 7. This year we wore Star Wars droid and Jedi costumes.

Car Land was so fun to see decorated for Haul-o-Ween.

I really like this fun picture, and how we're all half dressed up.  It was really hot, so we didn't put our costumes on until we got to the party and the sun was heading down.

I took the little two trick-or-treating over and over...

While John took the big kids on Monsters after Dark.

The parade was so fun, and the fireworks. We got home around 12:30.

The next morning we got to dig through all our candy and treats and snacks.
