Avengers Costumes

This year, I was outvoted and ended up making Avengers costumes for everyone.

Except myself.  I bought a NIN t shirt and SHIELD hat online, and went as Captain Marvel's 90s alter-ego.

John was Iron Man. I crochet his hat and gloves, and we ordered an Iron Man compression shirt and red sweats online.

Maggie was the wasp. Another crocheted hat. I cut out a gold thorax and top stitched it onto a black shirt.  It turned out surprisingly well.

We decided to make light up tulle wings.  The wings are made just like the tulle tutus, except tied around popsicle sticks instead of elastic.  Then I got glued the two popsicle sticks together, added black elastic for arm straps, and hot glued on the battery pack for the lights.  I sewed the lights to the wings with a few little stitches here and there.

Dalton was Captain America. Another hat, it took me a while to figure out how to make the wings, but I also used wings for Arthur's hat so it was worth adding them.  The star, stripes, and "shield" treat bag are all made from felt, and some of it I even glued on rather than sewed.

Sienna's costume was my favorite.  Raccoon hat, (real) raccoon tail, overalls, orange shirt, baby Groot friend, and a boom box treat bag.

Arthur was an adorable mini Thor. His hat had silver thread in the yarn, making it shiny. I used sharpie to make lines on his shirt, and sewed on felt circles. It took me several attempts to figure out how to attach the cape, and I finally settled for sewing buttons on the shirt and elastic loops on the cape. And inflatable hammer.  A must have.
