Halloween Costumes: Cavemen & Dinosaurs

I got our Halloween costumes finished this weekend. They turned out great! John and I will be caveman. I also made a caveman costume for Maggie out of scraps. Maggie wanted to be a triceratops, and Dalton will be a stegosaurus.
To make the kids' costumes, I made a pattern by tracing clothing that fit them. Then I cut out the pieces from brown fleece. I sewed Maggie's pink fleece polka dots on before piecing it together. The horns, beak, and frill are also pink fleece. I stuffed the horns with polyfill. A horn pattern shape is a wide triangle with a rounded bottom.
I also sewed some pink fleece toes.
Here is the shape of the tail before I stuffed it.I made a belt using broadcloth, heavy interfacing and velcro. I made it very wide and top stitched the open end of the tail to the center. I love how it turned out! More detailed instructions here.
Here is my sick little stegosaurus. The plates are cut out of a sheet of stiff felt (50 cents at Jo-ann). I cut the back piece in half, sandwiched the plates in between, and sewed it up. If you want plates on the hood, attach each hood half to each back half and then sandwich the plates. Here are the instructions for the caveman costumes. I used 1 1/3 yards for the adult version.

Cornbelly's x 3

Our third year in a row celebrating Halloween fun at Cornbelly's. (2009 2008) Last year it was the day before Dalton was due. This year Jodi, Ember, and Kyli came with us.
Bounce!Cow Train. Yay.

Yes, I Scrapbook

I don't usually post my scrapbooking projects on this blog because you can see them all in my gallery at Coordinates Collections. However, I got some free scrapbooking products from Bzzagent that I wanted to post my review of, so here you go.

They sent me some Elmer's Craftbond adhesives and some Xacto decorative scissors and a corner rounder. The Elmer's Craftbond gluestick was crappy. I used it on the stars in the Mama's Boy layout above. See the shadows because they're coming off the page? I really liked the glue pen though. I used it to hold down the heavy chipboard "POOP" and the American Crafts border thickers which wouldn't stay down.
I used the scalloped scissors to make more of the Jillibean Soup journaling sprouts for my Dinosaur Poop and Boo layouts. I just traced a sprout and cut around it with the scissors. Worked great!
And here are the other layouts I did. I was a guest designer this month and used the Black Magic kit. Yum!

Third Haircut

Dalton Boy had his 3rd hair cut yesterday. He's now had as many as Maggie. We finally got out the clippers and went to it. He didn't mind at all. These are the best picture I could get. The camera kept saying "unable to focus!"
