San Francisco: Over the Bay and Through the Woods

{See the full travelogue for details}

Our plan to do the Golden Gate Bridge a day early to avoid rain didn't work out so well.  But we still really enjoyed this stop on our trip.

These pictures look like the sort of faux retro-casual photos professional photographers take these days.  But this was taken by a random stranger, who also saved our stroller from taking a nose-dive into the Pacific.

Muir Woods - coastal redwoods are the tallest living thing on earth!  Great 1 mile walk/hike.  Plus the mile to the car.

Into the city to see the pier.  View from the parking garage.  Dalton had been asleep.

Clam chowder in a bread bowl on the Wharf.

Chinatown - Dalton and John went to a bakery to get bread while I stayed in the illegally parked car feeding Sienna.

A quick picture of Uncle Leonard, since I realized I hadn't taken any.

Moonstone and Strawberry Blond

{See the full travelogue for details}
Moonstone Beach

Baby Girl in a familiar quilt.

Maggie and Leah coloring.

Sienna and Great-Uncle Garry have the same reddish blond hair. I hope I get a little redhead!

All the cousins.

I don't remember Garry being this funny when I was younger...

Hearst Castle, Zebras, and Elephant Seals

{See the full travelogue for details}
We all went to Hearst Castle for the first time. We did a tour of the grand rooms on the main floor.

Overlooking the sea.

Beautiful girl.

Silly boy wanted his eyes shut in the picture.

My favorite part! I'd love to swim in this pool.

The dining room.

Billiards.

Theater.

Zebras!

Just hanging out with the cattle.

We went to the elephant seal viewing area and were happy to see that there were tons of them there.  That bit of red by John's elbow is the proof that Sienna was on this outing.

Pea Soup, Ostriches and Marzipan

{See the full travelogue for details}
First stop on our trip around California: Pea Soup Andersen's in Beullton.

Sienna tried her first pea soup and loved it. Apparently, she only likes green baby food.

John discovered Ostrichland between Buellton and Solvang, where you can actually feed real [scary] ostriches.

The emus and baby emus were not scary.

But these guys... yikes.

On to Solvang.
